Draft 2030 General Plan

The Draft 2030 General Plan is now available!

The Draft 2030 General Plan is the culmination of a planning process that began in 2004. Over the last four years, the City has held numerous community meetings, gathering input from more than 4,600 residents that helped shape the policy direction of the Draft 2030 General Plan.

The new 2030 General Plan is expected to be formally adopted by the City Council in winter of 2008, after a public review period. The 2030 General Plan will replace the existing outdated 1988 General Plan.

For your convenience, the Draft 2030 General Plan is provided below in the following two formats:

• Draft 2030 General Plan (Broken down by Section):

This format contains links to the many sections within the General Plan. It enables you to go directly to the section you want to view.

• Draft 2030 General Plan (Broken down by Part):

This format contains fewer links, with links to only the main parts of the General Plan. This format enables you to open fewer links when printing the entire document, thus speeding the printing process.

Draft 2030 General Plan Land Use Map

On April 1, 2008, the City Council accepted the following land use map for Sacramento. The land use map shows the proposed General Plan land use designations for different areas of the city.

Technical Background Report - 2030 General Plan

The Technical Background Report (TBR) provided background information about Sacramento. This information was needed to inform preparation of the draft 2030 General Plan.

1988 General Plan

The following table contains the City's existing General Plan, which was adopted in 1988 and which has been revised by Council in 2000 and 2003, when the Preservation and Housing Elements were adopted. This General Plan will be replaced by the new General Plan, which the City is currently preparing. All files are available in pdf format.
